Byron Bay International Film Festival

Located just a short stroll from the beach, the Byron Bay International Film Festival (BBFF) celebrates the spirit of Byron Bay through the universal medium of film - a key creative industry in the Northern Rivers region.

Over 9 days and 8 nights, our large and diverse programme includes films from across the globe which resonate with Byron Bay's community values - maintaining a strong emphasis on social and environmental issues, multiculturalism, creativity, indigenous culture, alternative healing, conscious thinking and positive living, music, marine preservation, colourful characters, humour and Byron's favourite past-time - surfing.

BBFF presents its audiences an array of entertainment and activities to suit all budgets from gala red carpet events to family-friendly screenings. This festival offers a high degree of interaction with a wealth of question & answer sessions, workshops, and discussion panels providing a vibrant and enriching experience for filmmakers and spectators alike.

2010 marks the centenary of 100 years of film being shown in Byron Bay - at the same spot where the BBFF is held - the Byron Community Centre. The festival's Centenary of Cinema celebration will highlight the importance of film appreciation and the role film has played in the region.
