Film Market Access’s Toronto program helps emerging filmmakers and film students to maximize on the opportunities of TIFF through an introduction to the festival, and an internship experience at noteworthy companies where they can prove themselves and launch their careers.
The networking connection gives access to key receptions where our interns from the program gain valuable contacts with industry professionals.
Our interns get a chance to immerse themselves within the festival timeframe. Each intern gets an access badge to the festival; shared accommodations at a hotel near the Eglin, AMC and Ryerson theatre venues, breakfast and lunch are included in the package. Interns are scheduled to arrive one day before the festival for a tour of all festival venues and at the end of the tour a welcome dinner is hosted by FMA & Creative Minds
From the start of the festival FMA mentors and consults with each intern as their guide in order for them to get the most out of the festival.
Jonnathan Bunning, a 2009 intern stated, “The [FMA] Toronto program gave me access to the festival and the internship portion gave me such a unique experience…[where] I had surpassed the expectations of my host company and I was invited to continue the working relationship. The incredible ongoing support of FMA continues to shape my future as I progress…I felt that I wouldn’t have had the means to enter the professional side of the industry on my own.”
